Burning Train: Silchar-Thiruvananthapuram express to depart on Tuesday as scheduled

Silchar Railway Station in Tarapur. 8:05 AM passengers heading towards Agartala. Suddenly people saw flames coming out of Silchar-Thiruvananthapuram express stationed in platform number 4.

Today, morning wasn’t business as usual at the Silchar Railway station. Silchar Fire Service and SDRF officials managed to bring the fire under control at around 9:05 AM but three coaches were already burnt.

“There was a major fire in the Silchar-Thiruvananthapuram express and three coaches got burnt. What is the source of the fire, what exactly happened there, these are questions that we will only be able to answer after a detailed investigation,” says Nripendra Bhattacharjee, NFR ghy.

He informed that the officials in Silchar Railway station handled the panic well and there has been no casualties or injuries. “See, that time the Silchar-Agartala passenger train was about to leave from platform number three and so the station was crowded. We immediately shifted the passenger train to platform two to distance the passengers from the burning train,” adds Bhattacharjee.

Northeast Frontier Railways will replace the three burnt coaches and train will depart from Silchar as planned, informs Bhattacharjee.
