Police arrests Rohingya from Barak Valley, seizes his Voter ID, PAN Card, Passbook

It is clear that an illegal Rohingya immigrant played a role in electing the 17th Lok Sabha, ie. Modi 2.0. Yes, it is true and bizarre.

Assam Police arrested Alam Hussain Mazumdar from Bagadohor Village in Patherkandi, Karimganj. 36-year-old, Alam Hussain Mazumder entered India illegally through Sutarkandi border in Karimganj. He accepted that he was born in Myanmar and entered India without a passport. After entering the country he lived in Haflong the Dima Hasao headquarters for a while. Then he moved back to Karimganj and got married to Rasina Begum and is now a father of two children. He was living with his father-in-law as he himself does not own any property. Alam Hussain Mazumder speaks fluent Sylheti and possesses Voter ID, PAN Card, a passbook for his State Bank Of India and many other government-issued documents.

Assam Police, responding to a tipoff raided Alam Hussain Mazumder’s father-in-law’s house and arrested him. He was produced in the court where the judge decided to send him to Police remand. “Whatever I did, I did to save my life. I do not have a passport, but I did travel to a few countries to save my life. I have been staying in India for the last 12 years. My father-in-law got me all the necessary documents and I did cast my vote in the recently concluded general elections,” said Alam Hussain Mazumdar.

This is not the first time Assam Police managed to arrest Rohingyas from Barak Valley. Similar arrests took place in Silchar, Hailakandi and other regions in and around Barak Valley. The astonishing fact is that in most of the cases the illegal immigrants happen to have documents like PAN Card, Voter ID card, Bank Passbook, etc. They use the rights which are otherwise reserved for the citizens of the country. While their illegal entry to the country exposes loopholes in the border, them getting all the government documents shows how poor the verification process is. Something to ponder upon!
