Great news for the people of Barak Valley and entire Northeastern region. The Assam Government announced an approval of Rs 96.06 crore in order to build a new 500-bed building in Silchar Medical College and Hospital.
Finance, Health and PWD minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the development by tweeting, “The hospital building of Silchar Medical college has become very old and one portion has almost become irreparable. Keeping in mind the patient load, today we’ve approved a new hospital with 500-bed capacity for Silchar Medical College with a project cost of ₹ 96.05 cr.”
Principal cum chief-superintendent of Silchar Medical College and Hospital Babul Bezbaruah welcomed the decision and said, “It’s a great asset for Barak Valley. Honourable minister’s vision is appreciated. Under his able guidance more and more development will be there. I, on behalf of SMCH family welcome the move of honourable Health Minister.
Silchar Medical College and Hospital was founded in 1968 and currently holds a capacity of 806 beds.
