Dead newborn found lying in Silchar Medical College - Assam University road

Humanity is under question at Silchar. A dead body of a newborn baby was found lying in the middle of the road. Today morning, people commuting on the Medical College – University road saw a haunting sight. Near Mithapani area, a newborn baby was found dead in a carton, mostly used to pack groceries.

Silchar resident and SBI employee Rajarshee Bhattacharjee posted on Facebook. “On my way to University today morning, near Mithapani area, saw a dead little baby thrown on the road by someone. The baby must have been a premature one, it was so tiny, and it looked as if in a deep sleep. God knows who’s child it was. How can he/she throw it on the road like that? If you have killed it, God will surely come after you. Your baby is lying there on the road, dogs and vultures will eat it, will your soul ever get forgiveness from the Lord?”

Many more such reactions poured in on social media platforms. The nearest Police station was informed and officials rushed to the spot and recovered the dead body.

A local resident who saw the baby lying said, “We had seen many forms of cruelty before in the real and imaginary world of cinemas. An incident like this is rare and devastating. There were dogs smelling the baby, you do not expect to see a visual like this.”

How the newborn reached the middle of the road is still a mystery. Hopefully, police will manage to find the people who threw the baby in the middle of the road.
