Durga Puja 2019: Porineeta Basak shares style tips for women

It’s time to revel in the festivities of Durga Puja.

All you lovely ladies, we know how much of a pressure you are going through thinking about draping the alluring six yards on the days of the pujas. Even when many will be fasting all morning for Anjali and standing long hours in the queue for pandal hopping, all that shouldn’t deter you from putting your best foot forward.

Are you confused what should be your pick during the festival? Heavy gowns, sarees or indo-western? Well, worry not, for we have some exclusive tips from Porineeta Basak.

Basak runs her designer store named “ SIGNO-RA “ which came into existence in the year 2016. Having started with women’s collection, last year Basak introduced kids and men collection too.

In a conversation with barakbulletin.com, Basak shared some important fashion advice for all our female readers. She has also promised that soon she will have some tips for the men out there too.

Porineeta Basak shared, “As Puja is approaching while it’s still hot and humid, everyone would prefer to wear comfortable outfits with unique designs. I am sure most must have definitely started planning their attires for the grand four-day celebration. Moreover, I am happy to see the fashion level in Barak Valley has already gone up the scale.”

Coming to the pujas, here are some styling ideas for each day.

SAPTAMI: Most of the pretty ladies prefer sober ethnic looks in the morning such as kurti with contrast formal cotton pants. You can pick the ones with some embroidery work on it or wear flare skirts with tops. As pastel colours are in trend, one can opt for some light shade dresses. One can also seek inspiration from bohemian fashion and go for a shimmery jumpsuit paired with a textured jacket in bright hues. Or try going fusion with long sheer jackets or trench coats with palazzo pant.

Go traditional but also stick to comfort

ASTHAMI: Nothing less than a saree is expected at asthami morning. One can drape a light shade saree with some beautiful intricate work designer blouses (hand-painted/embroidered). Coming to the evening, one can go for gowns (off-shoulder/ flare/bodycon ) or pair up short skirt ith a crop top.

Interesting prints and paints are totally in vogue this Puja

NAVAMI: Since it will be the last day for setting a style statement, make it special. For morning celebration, one can choose a Bengali style saree with a modern twist or a beautiful anarkali/chikenkari salwar suit. One can even make use of their experimental side by dolling the saree with a multi-coloured patch work blouse. To break the traditional look, one can amp up their style in the evening. Dhoti type pant with a crop top and shrug over is quite in trend this year. Long gorgeous work on a gown or designer heavy blouse with some light work on saree in a bright hue will also make you look stunning. And if you want to stick to the classic look, opt for benarasi or silk sarees as they are never out of trend.

Experiment with fusion and indo-western gowns

Other important tips: Fashion depends solely on oneself, how you manage to carry it. So it’s better to choose dresses in which you will be comfortable. The more at ease you are, the more you can handle it in a classic way and the more amazing you will look.

That’s all from Porineeta and Signo-Ra for the ladies and a very Happy Pujo in advance from them.
