"Bisleri harmful to health": Department bans sale in Assam for 30 days

One of the most trusted brands when it comes to bottled water, Bisleri faces a major setback. The Food Safety Department of Assam has prohibited the sale of the Mumbai headquartered brand’s packaged drinking products in the state.

The food safety department stated that the water of this brand was tested as per Regulation 2.10.8 of Food Safety and Standards.

“According to section 3 (1) of the Food Safety Standards Act 2006, we have found a large amount of fluoride in the water of this brand, which is harmful to health,” stated the notification issued by the department.

Sources close to the development said that following the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. Assam’s Food Safety Department has prohibited the sale of the Bisleri’s bottled water in Assam with immediate effect.
