Mysterious funeral; Locals accuse Silchar man of raping and killing his 17-year-old house help

A National Highway Road businessman Pappu Roy has found himself in trouble. He had a 17-year-old female maid servant working at his residence. The minor was found dead at his place and as per locals, without informing the girl’s family, he conducted her last rites.

The incident irked the girl’s family and they along with other members of various Koiborto associations launched a massive protest today. The members of the association alleged that Pappu Roy raped and murdered the minor and to save himself from any investigation or inquiry he conducted the last rites in a hurry.

Masimpur resident, the minor has been working at Pappu Roy’s house since last couple of months. As per locals her dead body was first spotted in Pappu Roy’s house today morning. They allege that Roy did not wait for her family members and conducted the funeral in a hurry. The family members along with others reported the incident to a local Police station and then launched a protest demanding immediate arrest of the alleged businessman.

The Police then went to Roy’s house and escorted him to the Police station. Member of Barak Valley Koiborto Unnayan Parishad said, “This is clear case of rape and murder. He killed her and then hanged her body with the fan to frame it as a suicide. Otherwise why would he not inform her family members and wait for Police to do a thorough investigation.”

The agitated members of the Parishad demanded Roy to be hanged till death for raping and killing a minor
