25-year-old Sayantan succumbs to cardiac arrest; SMCH could not facilitate angioplasty

He was just 25 and he is no more. Silchar boy Sayantan Chakraborty complained of severe chest pain early today. His family members rushed him to Silchar Medical College and Hospital and as informed by the family members, the doctors said he needs to undergo Angioplasty immediately. Just to put it into context, Angioplasty is a non-surgical procedure, which opens blocked coronary arteries and restores blood flow to the heart.

Sayantan could not reach NEIGRIHMS, he succumbed on the way. His uncle, renowned dancer and choreographer, Saumitra Shankar Choudhury said, “Everything has ended for us. We have lost our son at this young age due to the lack of advanced treatment facilities in Silchar. Due to unavailability of facilities like Angioplasty, Neurosurgery, many people are dying in an Ambulance on their way to Shillong or Guwahati. Something has to be done for our safe future.”

Sayantan Chakraborty did his schooling from Silchar Collegiate School and after that, he went to Ramanuj Gupta Junior College to study his plus two. He is BCom and did his MBA from Bengal Institute of Business Studies. He was working as a business development manager at Pristyn Care, a health-tech Startup.
