Cultural fraternity to perform one last act with Raktim Das today evening at Silchar Samshan

Leaving a huge void in the cultural fraternity, dancer, lyricist, composer vibrant and the dynamic Raktim Das has past away. Today morning, at around 6:30, he breathed his last. He was 40.

Raktim Das was suffering from diabetes and had heart issues also. He leaves behind his mother, wife, and daughter. Das’ contribution to art and culture of Barak Valley will live with people for a very long time. He is an inspiration to the younger generation.

Dancer and Choreographer, Soumitra Shankar Choudhury said that the fraternity will pay one last tribute to Raktim Das. He informed that Raktim Das’ mortal remains would be kept in Silchar Sangeet Vidyalaya for the general public and fraternity to pay their last respect. It is worth mentioning here that Das was a student of Sangeet Vidyalaya and then taught as a teacher too.

From there, a foot-march to Silchar crematorium in Samshan Road will happen. There, many organisations will dance in the tune of live music. “That would be our last act with our Raktim,” said Choudhury.
