Dead body of a newborn found near Silchar railway station

A body of a newborn baby was found abandoned in Silchar Railway station in the wee hours of Wednesday. The body was first spotted by Silchar RPF Jawans, who were in routine duty of security check up.

Railway police is probing the case, and the body has been sent to Silchar Medical College for post-mortem. The baby was reportedly a few hours or day old and its umblical cord was still uncut as seen in the picture.

Speaking to Barak Bulletin, Silchar Station Master, Biplab Das said the dead body of the infant was spotted by the RPF today morning near 4th line of the station yard. It was wrapped in a plastic bag. “Case has been handed over to Silchar GRP and they will probe the case. This is clearly a miscreant’s activity. They dumped it at station yard so as to avoid witness” Das said.

It can be mentioned here that from the past few weeks, criminal activities has got a record surge in Silchar and adjoining areas. If the situation continues, it’s not far when the city will be termed as crime capital.
