11 schools in Hailakandi chosen to develop Thinking lab under NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission
11 schools of Hailakandi district have been selected under NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission, to develop Atal Thinking lab which will aim to create and promote an ecosystem of innovation and entrepreneurship across the country at school, university, research institutions, MSME and industry levels.
The schools which got selected are Golap Academy, Hailakandi Junior Science College, Irfan Ali Memorial High School, JK Memorial English School, Janaki Charan HS School, Kanchanpur Medha Vikash Vidyalaya, Modern Public High School, Nimaichandpur HS School, Nityanandapur High School, Panchgram Town High School and Premlochan HS School.
The Atal Innovation Mission is a flagship initiative set up by the NITI Aayog to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the country. The objective of establishing ‘AIM’ is to create scientific temper and cultivate the spirit of curiosity and innovation among young minds. In Schools, AIM facilitates to set up a network of Atal Tinkering Laboratories (ATL) with a vision to ‘Cultivate 1 Million children in India as Neoteric Innovators’.
Each ATL receives a grant in aid of Rs. 12 lakhs in the first year, and up to 2 lakhs per year for the subsequent four years, for maintenance of the ATL equipment and operational expenses. Innovators will receive commercialization and technology deployment grants up to Rs. 1 crore under the ANICs. According to a government release, more than 10,000 schools are expected to establish these labs by 2020 across the nation.
