DC Laya Madduri sees 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' ambassador in Kavita Devi; Dilip Paul hands over Rs 25,000

Deputy Commissioner Cachar Laya Madduri on Monday felicitated the Golden Girl of Cachar, Kavita Devi and congratulated her for her grand success in recently held South Asian Games in Nepal.

Cachar DC Laya Madduri handed over a souvenir, a Certificate and a cash prize of Rs 5000 to Kavita Devi, during the felicitation programme held at the conference hall in DC’s Office, Silchar.

Later speaking to the media, DC Madduri announced that Kavita will be soon be announced as the ambassador of Cachar district’s Beti Bachao Beti Padao scheme “As she has become role model for many girls to follow, to be brave, confident and conquer whichever area you choose,” Madduri feels Kavita Devi is a natural fit.

“This is a very prestigious moment for all of us as she made the name of Assam and India glow at the international level and we are very happy to receive her as daughter of Cachar,” Laya Madduri said. She added “As an ambassador of Beti Bachao Beti Padao and Beti Khelao and she will be closely associated with district administration for spreading the word of girl child empowerment so that equal opportunity is provided to both boys and girls in the society.”

Silchar MLA Dilip Paul also congratulated Kavita and credited her hard work, patience, and dedication which led to the grand achievement. “Looking at her confidence, I am pretty sure that we will get good news in the coming Olympics,” Dilip Paul.

Paul handed over a cheque of Rs 25,000 to Kavita Devi at the felicitation event that took place in Gandhi Bhavan before the press conference at DC’s office.
