DC Barnali Sharma flags off 'SAKSHAM' Cycle Day in Silchar
Cachar Deputy Commissioner Barnali Sharma on Sunday flagged of a SAKSHAM cycle rally where hundreds of cyclists took part to create awareness on health, environment and fuel conservation.
The rally was organized by Numaligarh Oil Refinery (NRL) as a part of SAKSHAM cycle day, which is being observed in 200 cities simultaneously across the country.
The cycle rally started from the police parade ground, Silchar through Cachar college, Madhuramukh, Rongpur ground to finally culminate at the starting point. It was promoted under the slogan “Aao Cycle Chalaye”.
Along with Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police Cachar Manabendra Devray, BJP District General secretary Konad Purkaystha, District sports association president Babul Hore, Sr.CGM(Maktg and BD)NRL B.Akka, DGM(corporate communications)NRL Madhuchanda Adhikari were also present.
Deputy commissioner,Cachar Smt Barnali Sharma spoke on the importance of conservation of petroleum fuel while stressing on the benefits of cycling on health as well as on the environment. She urged youths to take forward the novel initiative under SAKSHAM on a sustainable basis for realising its greater benefits. In his welcome speech Sr CGM(NRL) B. Akka briefed about SAKSHAM,2020 campaign and NRL initiatives.
As a part of month long campaign NRL will also organise’ walkathon’ in Silchar on 2nd February to create awareness on the benefits of conservation of petroleum products.
