22,963 students in Barak Valley appear for Higher Secondary examinations today

Some will become Engineers, some Doctors, some Chartered Accountants, few will go on to launch their own ventures while some will write novels and poetries, whatever they do in future, higher secondary will forever stay as one of the most important examinations of their academic career.
With the General English paper, the board examination started today and it will conclude on March 23, 2018. A total of 22,963 students from three districts of Barak Valley (Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi) are appearing this year in 65 examination centers. The Assam Higher Secondary Examinations Council (AHSEC) has informed that each center will have state police official deputed for security reasons. CCTV cameras are also installed in the examination centers to ensure fair proceedings. The Council has also informed that apart from Principal and external invigilator, nobody can use mobile phones or smart watches in the examination hall. Out of the 65 examination centers, the Council has identified six as ‘sensitive’ and has taken special measures for the sensitive centers.
Out of the 22,963, 11,599 are from Cachar District (8977 Arts, 1665 Science and 957 Commerce), 4753 are from Hailakandi district and 6611 from Karimganj.
Last week AHSEC, Chairman, Dayananda Borgohain visited Barak Valley and checked if all the necessary measures are in place. After inspection, he shared his satisfaction and said all three districts are prepared to conduct examinations seamlessly.
