"Parimal da was in charge for Chirang district on behalf of party for mobilisation," Himanta Biswa Sarma responds to Congress' dig
Yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Kokrajhar to celebrate the historic signing of Bodo Agreement. While his speech made headlines not only in Northeast but all across, in Silchar, a different story started trending on Social Media platforms.
At around 12:00 midnight, Silchar Congress uploaded an image of Parimal Suklabadiya where he is mobilising the traffic. The Silchar Congress’ post read, “Though he was not given a chair on the dias with PM (whereas others were given) , during the programme at Kokrajhar on 07/02/2020 , even being the only Cabinet Minister from Barak Valley….”
The post added, “He was busy in controlling the traffic outside the programme arena and he thus justified why he has no importance in the Govt. Its indeed a ‘Black Day’ for this valley. Can you recognise him? Any guess?” Not only Silchar Congress, but many other pages also shared the same image which was widely criticised in Barak Valley.
In an exclusive interaction with Barak Bulletin, North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) Chief, Himanta Biswa Sarma settled the dust. He said, “Unlike Congress, in BJP all are Karyakartas. Parimal da was in charge for Chirang district on behalf of the party for mobilisation.. we do not have that kind of culture. Amit shah eats food with booth Karyakarta.”
Parimal Suklabadiya laughed at the jibe by the Congress’ at him. He said, “The Prime Minister of the country was here for a rally and it is great that I could play a role in making it successful by mobilising the traffic. At one point of time, we had more than 2.5 lakh people stuck outside and we somehow managed to pass a major chunk of them so that they could hear the Prime Minister. In BJP we all are volunteers at our events.”
