Auto, E-Rickshaw, public/passenger transport service "stopped" till March 31: DC Cachar
Prevention is better than cure. It is evident that the Cachar District Administration is willing to leave no stones unturned in ensuring all precautionary measures are in place. The nation as the world is fighting a global pandemic caused by the Covid-19 virus. So far, experts have managed to establish that the best way to restrict the virus from spreading further is by prohibiting social gatherings and to restrict the same District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has rolled out a set of restrictions on transportation.
DC Cachar, Barnali Sharma who is also the head of DDMA issued an order stating, “Considering the gravity of the situations, therefore, in the exercise of powers conferred by section 54 (b) of Disaster Management Act 2005 I hereby direct the stoppage of movement and closure of all the public/passenger transport including auto-rickshaw, e-rickshaw throughout the district with effect from 6 a.m. March 23, 2022 to 9:00 p.m. March 31, 2020.”
The deputy commissioner in her order clarified that “The vehicles of district administration/disaster management, the ones related to emergency health services both Government and private, Army / Military vehicle, paramilitary vehicles, police vehicles, ambulances, goods carrying vehicles, and other vehicles related to emergency are exempted from the above restrictions.”
The DC made it clear that in case of non-compliance of the above directions, actions would be taken as per Section 51 (b) of Disaster management Act 2005. Sharma in her order mentioned, “The order comes into force with immediate effect.”
