"Person from Cachar tests postive," tweets Himanta Biswa Sarma; Medical sources say individual is a resident of Sonitpur
A person from Cachar districted has tested COVID Positive.
Health minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “Alert ~ One person from Cachar dist has tested positive for #COVID19. Total #COVID19 patients in Assam now stands at 45. Active cases 10 Discharged 30, Death 1 Update at 9.30 pm / May 6 #AssamCovidCount”
Though the Health Minister announced that the case is from Cachar, medical sources in Silchar informed us that the individual who tested positive had returned from Ajmer and is a resident of Sonitpur district. A bus filled with passengers had reached Cachar earlier today and the individuals were put under quarantine.
With this, the number of COVID positive cases to be treated in Barak Valley rises to five. One patient from Hailakandi has passed away and one patient from Karimganj was discharged earlier today from Silchar Medical College and Hospital. The first patient from Cachar was discharged in April after he successfully recovered and a patient from Karimganj is now in the COVID block of SMCH. This patient from Sonitpur district will also be treated in Silchar Medical College and Hospital.
