Smugglers from Barak Valley caught in Mizoram with drugs worth Rs 4 lakh
Two individuals from Barak Valley was caught red-handed by Mizoram Police’s Rengtekawn branch while they were trying to smuggle heroin. As per available information, two individuals identified as Aftab Hussain (19) his friend Shaidul Uddin (31) of Bagha Bazar area traveled to Kolasib in Mizoram sitting on a truck driving with essential commodities. In Kolasib, they met a local handler identified as Deepak Das (35) and were out to deliver the consignment.
Mizoram Police informed that the registration plate of the vehicle they boarded read AS 11 BG 9196. The police officials said that they have successfully nabbed all three smugglers and managed to seize 1,193 small packs of heroin, which according to them is worth Rs 4,17,550.
Several associations in the Bagha Bazar area demanded strict actions against the smugglers. The spokesperson of one of the associations said, “We often hear about smuggling in our locality. I urge the local administration to launch an operation and destroy the racket that is ruining our society. The two individuals arrested in Mizoram are residents of this area and it is a matter of immense shame for us.”
