Spicejet cancels flights to and fro Silchar; "No takeoff or landing on Thursday:" Silchar Airport
Flight service has resumed at Silchar Airport from Tuesday, 44 passengers arrived at Silchar airport on the first day followed by 67 on Wednesday. 45 passengers departed from Silchar today, according to the numbers shared by Silchar airport authorities.
However, no flights will operate from Silchar Airport on Thursday as Spicejet has cancelled all flights scheduled for tomorrow.
Airport authorities informed that Spicejet has cancelled the SG 3218/19 Kolkata – Silchar – Kolkata up to 31.05.2020 whereas SG 8152/8169 Guwahati-Silchar-Guwahati for tomorrow.
The domestic flight services will resume in West Bengal on Thursday, three days after air travel was declared open in the rest of the country. The Bengal government had asked the Centre to not resume the flight service as the state has been ravaged by Cyclone Amphan. According to the state government, the state no longer had the infrastructure to support lakhs of returning migrant workers.
It can be mentioned here that all the passengers coming at Silchar airport are sent to Institutional quarantine after collecting SWAB samples from them.
