20 more test COVID positive in Barak Valley; 7 each from Cachar and Karimganj

In what becomes a significant one-time spike in the number of COVID19 cases, 20 more have tested positive in Barak Valley.

Silchar Medical College and Hospital and shared a medical bulletin which states that seven each from Cachar and Karimganj and six from Hailakandi have tested positive.

“Alert ~ 90 new cases of #COVID19+ 37 Dhubri, 15 D Hasao, 7 K’ganj, 7 Cachar, 7 Baksa, 6 H’kandi, 3 Udalguri, 2 S Salmara, 2 Dhemaji, 1 each Nalbari/Barpeta/Bongaigaon/Chirang,” tweeted Health minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma.

As of 11:00 PM on June 5, the day’s total stood at 128 while the total cases in the state rose to 2,243. Out of the 20 newly diagnosed COVID19 patients, only one happens to be symptomatic. Identified as Kowsar Amin, the 22-year-old is a resident of Karimganj district and has returned from Haryana.

It is worth mentioning here that swab samples of Dima Hasao residents are also tested in Silchar Medical College and Hospital.
