15-year-old commits suicide after failing to pass class 10 examination

In a sad turn of affair, a minor female student ended her life in Kornamudhu Chandpur village of Karimganj district, for allegedly failing in the just-announced Assam HSLC exam results.

The deceased was identified as Sumana Begum(15) D/O Muktar Ali from Chandpur village under Karimganj PS of Karimganj district. She was a student from Kornomadhu High School.

Karimganj SP Kumar Sanjit Krishna informed Barak Bulletin over the phone that the deceased ended her life by hanging from a ceiling fan at her home. The body is currently in the hospital fo post mortem. Thereafter will be handed over to the family.

On Saturday, the results of this year’s HSLC examination were published, with a 64.80% pass rate. Karimganj district witnessed a pass percentage of 50.73%
