11 junior doctors who had come to SMCH for admission to PG test COVID positive; 25 new cases from Cachar and Karimganj
Officials in the Silchar Medical College and Hospital has released a new list of coronavirus patients from Cachar and Karimganj. In total, 26 positive cases have come fore on Sunday from the two districts of Barak Valley. Out of the same, 11 include junior doctors, who had arrived in Silchar to take admission to postgraduate courses in Silchar Medical College.
Dr Babul Bezburuah, Principal cum chief superintendent of SMCH told Barak Bulletin that 25 students had arrived for PG course admission, and as per the protocol swab test was conducted on them. All of them had tested negative initially. However, Babul Bezburah asked the junior doctors to remain under quarantine for 14 more days and only enter the college after they test negative in the second test.
They were all placed at Assam University’s quarantine centre, and yesterday, a few of them started showing symptoms. On testing them again, out of 25 students, 11 tested positive. Their names are Suyash Anshumali (30), Gastner K.B (24), Veena N Hosamani (24), Nagesh C.S (24), Debdutta Nayak (29), Pankaj Kumar (26), Nalla Rakesh (25), Subho Panja (26), Shekhar Gupta (28), Suman Ganguli (27) and Ruhal A. Bhange (29).
Including them, total, 15 patients have been reported from Cachar, while others are from Karimganj. A police reserve member who was admitted with respiratory illness Hira Lal Goala (49) tested positive for coronavirus.
Travellers from various cities who are also on the list include Karimganj residents Kutub Uddin (16), Fani Biswas (28), Akbal Hussain (21), Burhan Uddin (21), Bahar Uddin (20), Samchul Uddin (28), Bappa Namosudra (27), Jobrul Hussain (31), Gulgar Hussain (29) and Jamil Ahmad (22), who had all traveled home from Mumbai. Others are Altaf Hussain (24), Sultan Ahmed Laskar (24), Gautam Sawtal (27) from Bangalore and Md Mastakin (42), who was a symptomatic ILI patient, and was in the quarantine centre.
