Cachar reports 18 more COVID positive cases; pregnant lady, Assam Rifles, BSF Jawans among many others

District Health Department informed that 17 individuals from Cachar tested positive on July 16. Air Passenger from Mumbai, Srikona’s Shamshuddin Laskar (30) tested positive. Passengers from Hyderabad who were found carrying the infection are: Borjalenga’s Upananda Chasa (37), Anandakhal Bagha’s Bijoy Mura (20), Dwarbond’s Motilal Rikiason (26), Derbi Dholai’s Rajesh Ree (25), Amraghat’s Pappu Thakur (34).

Assam Rifles, Jail Road’s Pancha Roy Jamatia (36), and Kailash (42) have also tested positive for COVID 19. BSF Dholcherra Camp’s Babu Lal (56), Ajit Singh (54), Kandan A (40), Dhirendra Kumar (53) have all tested positive.
A pregnant woman in labour, 23-year-old Sonia Rani from Masimpur Military Station has also tested positive for COVID 19.

There has been a constant rise in the number of symptomatic cases in Cachar. Suffering from fever and cough DRDA Silchar’s Kyk Row (53), Rangirkhari’s Sumita Rani Ghosh (23) and Pintu Ghosh (35) have been diagnosed carrying the virus.

Today, at Silchar Medical College and Hospital, Janiganj’s Narayan Mitra (70) breathed his last. He was suffering from respiratory issues and was under the treatment of a “private doctor.” As his condition deteriorated yesterday, he was referred to SMCH. After reaching SMCH his oxygen level dropped and he was immediately put on a ventilator. As there was very little time, the officials in the SMCG could not collect swab samples before admission but did so while Narayan Mitra was in life support. Mitra tested COVID positive and post his demise was cremated by the officials from District Administration.

The official spokesperson of Silchar Medical College and Hospital informed that Narayan Mitra’s son Abhijeet Mitra has also tested positive and is currently admitted to the COVID block of Silchar Medical College and Hospital. Including him, a total of 18 individuals have tested positive so far in Cachar today.
