Md. Sabir Nishat takes charge of Information and PR as Deputy Director (IC), Barak Valley Region
The government of Assam’s Information and Public Relations department has trusted Md. Sabir Nishat with the responsibility to look after the day to day work of Deputy Director Information and Public Relations, Barak Valley, Region. Md Sabir Nishat is the DIPRO of Hailakandi and will now have the additional responsibilities of DDPIR Barak Valley Region.
He took charge today and communicated to the press, “I have taken over charge as DD Incharge, I&PR, Barak Valley Region this morning. Looking forward to seeing you all and seeking your support and cooperation in the coming days.”
It is worth mentioning here that on June 15, the government had issued a letter suspending DDIPR Barak Valley Region, Indrani Goswami for “gross negligence of her duties.” She, however, countered that there was no negligence on her part and it was the Cachar District Administration that did not do its duty. This came after a fiasco around CM’s visit earlier in June.
The letter, issued by the government stated, “Whereas it is been found that Indrani Goswami Deputy Director Information and Public Relations Barak Valley region Silchar remained absent from duty on that day without obtaining any prior permission from the competent authority for which serious mismanagement took place regarding media persons who came to cover the program of Honorable Chief Minister Assam. As a result, a number of media person got agitated and left the venue causing much embarrassment to the government.”
It added, “Whereas the government has considered this as a serious misconduct and gross negligence of duty on the part of Shrimati Indrani Goswami Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations Barak Valley region Silchar for causing an embarrassing position of to the government.”
Concluding, “Now, therefore, pending drawal of departmental proceedings Indrani Goswami Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations Barak Valley region Silchar is hereby placed under suspension.
In the same letter, in view of the suspension of Indrani Goswami, the government stated that, Md. Sajjadul Haque Chowdhury, Deputy Director IPR Karimganj District, will be been given the additional responsibility of looking after the day-to-day work of DDIPR.
However, the department has canceled its earlier order and announced that Md Sabir Nishat will be the DDIPR Incharge until further notice.
