78-year-old, Bimal Paul died with COVID infection today. The district health department informed that he had tested positive for the virus before death. “However, we cannot say if is a COVID death or not. We have sent the report to state-level Death Audit Board and they will declare after assessment,” said Media Expert, District Health Department, Suman Choudhury.

Among the 90 individuals to test positive in Cachar, there is the deputy speaker of the state, Aminul Haque Laskar, and his driver. Apart from them, Link Road Meherpur’s Khadeza Begum (32), Vivekananda Road Silchar’s Biswajit Talikdar (40), Srikona Cachar’s Nitish Das Gupta (32), Das Colony’s Dr Gobinda Banik (48), Berenga Part I’s Abul Kalam Noor Ahmed Laskar (38), Rongpur Gangapara’s Sadhana Dutta (49), Anup Goala, (41), Susmita Seal Tanti (23), Bilpar’s Manoj Paul (50) have also tested positive.

Among the defense personnel to test positive for the virus, there are, Abhinash Kumar Mohta (30), Punit Kumar (28) of Dholcherra and CRPF Kashipur’s Sanjeev Kumar (44).

Testing under the Assam Targeted Surveillance Programme, (ATSP) continued in the district and Lakhipur SDO, Jiauddin Choudhary (58), ISBT Cachar’s Rabinbra Deka (40), NN Dutta Road’s Biraj Dhar (38) tested positive.

Capital travels, Banipara Cachar’s Dr. H Membi Singh (27) was also in the list of COVID positive patients,
