Dr. Dawipayan Deb of Silchar Medical College & Hospital tests positive for COVID19  

Silchar’s Sonai Road resident and a doctor under National Health Mission, Dr. Dawipayan Deb has tested positive for COVID 19. Former general secretary of Junior Doctors’ Association, Silchar Medical College & Hospital, Dawipayan Deb was tested using Rapid Antigen Test Kit on July 26.

The official spokesperson of Silchar Medical College and Hospital informed that though Deb tested negative for the virus in the Rapid Antigen Test, as a protocol they collected his swab too.

Dawipayan Deb is asymptomatic and has no sign of illness.

It is worth mentioning here that two days ago, Dr. Dawipayan Deb’s father had tested positive for the virus.

Deb had posted on Facebook, “Had a really rough day. My father has been tested Covid-19 positive and currently admitted to SMCH. The rest of my family is safe. Requesting anybody who came in contact with him during the last 7 days to get themselves tested. Also, remember us in your prayers.”

He could not be reached for comment.
