5-month-old kidnapped boy found dead; "Culprits must be hanged till death": Aminul Haque Laskar

In a sad turn of affairs, the 5-month-old boy who was kidnapped from his own residence has been found dead. At a residence in Sonai’s Kajidahar area, some miscreants entered breaking the window and ran away with the 5-month-old while he was asleep with his parents. As per reports, the kidnappers demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh. The matter was informed to Cachar Police immediately and they were investigating it.

Last night at around 1:00 am (today morning) the kid’s dead body was recovered after digging in a jungle area in Rangirgart GP, Tagnarpar locality in Sonai. From there the body has been sent to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for postmortem.

Deputy Speaker of Assam and Sonai MLA, Aminul Haque Laskar demanded the case to be dealt at a Fast track court. “Culprits must be hanged till death. We should not delay this case. The crime committed by the culprits is so heinous that they deserve Capital punishment. I also urge the Police to go to the root of it and destroy the entire racket. It is clear that there was a local informer otherwise the kidnapper won’t know which window did not have a grill. I demand arrest of all,” he said while speaking with Barak Bulletin.

Cachar Police refused to comment on the matter. However, as per sources close to the police department, the kidnapper who was arrested on day-1 revealed that they had killed the kid on the day of the kidnapping itself. “The kidnapper took the police to the location from where the kid was recovered after digging,” said the source.

The source also added that the Police has so far arrested three individuals which include the main kidnapper too. After two days of interrogation, the kidnapper revealed that the kid is no more, said the source.
