DC Keerthi Jalli inaugurates Tele-Medicine facility for COVID positive patients on home treatment

On the occasion of 74th Independence Day, DC Cachar introduces the Tele-Medicine facility to help in the battle against COVID-19 as an aid to the patients.

The Assam government allowed asymptomatic COVID-19 positive patients to opt for home quarantine only if they sign an undertaking agreeing to certain conditions. On July 11, the government announced that the people opting for home treatment will have to take care of themselves and in case of an emergency must drive to the nearest hospital using personal means of communication. The patients must have a caregiver at the home and should not reside with pregnant women or residents belonging to the vulnerable category.

Patients who will sign the undertaking will have to ensure that their neighbours and housing societies have no objection to their home quarantine. The entire residence will be turned into a containment zone.

The Tele-Medicine facility is introduced to check on the COVID-19 positive patients who opt for home treatment. The official Tele-Medicine contact number is, 7099248937, said the District Commissioner of Cachar, IAS Keerthi Jalli. The service will be available for a limited period of time only for the COVID positive patients. Experts will monitor health conditions and suggest medications whenever necessary.

“Procurement of medicines and taking care will be the responsibility of the undertaking patients,” said the Deputy Commissioner. “However, it a request if there is any query related to the medicines or the health condition then kindly contact the official number given,” DC Jalli added while wishing everyone a happy Independence Day.

She interacted with one of the patients to inaugurate the service.

91 individuals tested positive yesterday and the total number of active COVID-19 cases in Assam stands at 74,501.
