More than 2 children; DC Keerthi Jalli removes Member of Bhangarpar GP

Last year, the Assam government implemented the two-child policy under which anyone who has more than two children cannot be elected or nominated to panchayat and other local bodies’ elections.

In Cachar district, a group member has flouted the two-child norm. A complaint was lodged against group member of Bhangarpar GP, Badrul Islam Barbhuiya as he became the father of a third child.

The additional deputy commissioner of Cachar, wrote a letter to the CEO of Zila Parishad to inquire the matter and submit a report. The committee found the allegations to be true and the report was furnished before the deputy commissioner.

DC Cachar, Keerti Jalli, after studying the reports submitted by Zila Parishad, issued a letter stating the allegations to be genuine, “Accordingly, by the power vested with the undersigned, hereby remove Badrul Islam Barbhuiya as the group member,” read the letter.
