A day after her wedding, DC Cachar visits SMCH to take stock of ICU expansion

On Thursday, Deputy Commissioner, Cachar Keerthi Jalli visited the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) to oversee the progress of construction work of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). She was accompanied by Officer on Special Duty, PWD, Jyotish Sarma.

The Deputy Commissioner interacted with Principal SMCH, Dr. Babul Bezbaruah and Superintendent Dr. Abhijit Swami and reviewed the construction of ICU meant for COVID patients in the southern block of the main building of the hospital.

Jalli also interacted with the contractors working on the gas pipeline and doing the civil work of the ICU. According to a statement released by DDIPR, she has asked them to expedite the work and to complete the construction within the stipulated time.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner paid a visit to the central ICU of SMCH and explored the feasibility of further increasing the number of beds in the ICU.

It is worth mentioning here that the SMCH, currently has 16 beds in the COVID-ICU forcing critical patients to remain in the ward due to lack of availability. MoS Health. Pijush Hazarika during his recent visit assured that the capacity will be increased. The construction of the same is going on.

After SMCH, the Deputy Commissioner visited the MG Model Hospital, Kachudaram to oversee the preparations for a new COVID Care Centre. Sumit Sattawan, ADC (Health), Suman Choudhury, Media Expert and Nurur Rahman Mazumder, AE (Civil) accompanied the Deputy Commissioner. Dr. NG Surendra Singha, SDM&HO, Sonai and staff of the hospital were also present.

DC Jalli got married at her Bungalow in Silchar yesterday.
