Karimganj's Swapnaneel Bhattacharjee shines bright yet again; secures 822 All India Rank in NEET

In 2018, Swapnaneel Bhattacharjee was the only name from Barak Valley in HLSC’s merit list of the top 10. Babyland English High School student, Karimganj’s Swapnaneel had secured 584 marks to secure the tenth position.

In 2020, he scored the highest marks in the science subjects but did not find a spot on the merit list because of his below expectation performance in other additional subjects.

The National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test – NEET, 2020 results were declared yesterday and Bhattacharjee shone bright yet again. With 676 marks he has secured 822 All India Rank. Son of Sumit Bhattacharjee and Saswati Bhattacharjee, Swapnaneel has always drawn inspiration from his sister Satabdi Bhattacharjee.

“I am waiting for the counselling to begin. Only then I will get to know if I will get a seat in any of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences,” says Swapnaneel. He adds that he has not thought about any specific specialisation that he wants to pursue. “Once I start studying medical science, after that I will see what interests me the most. I have not decided it yet,” he asserts.

Bhattacharjee after his tenth said that he wants to become an IAS officer. When reminded about that dream, he smiles…”I thought that I will get into a stream of studies and then prepare for UPSC. That dream is still there…”

Sharing details about his NEET preparation, Bhattacharjee said, “This is something that does not happen overnight. It is a result of the hard work done in the last couple of years. I would say big thanks to the professors of Ramanuj Gupta College, Purnadeep Chanda sir, Shubrajyoti Sir. The way they teach it does not benefit you only in your boards but also helps you prepare for entrance examinations. My base got cleared because of them.”

“Yes, I did enroll myself for a crash course but I could not pursue that due to the outbreak of Coronavirus. The coaching centre moved its classes online, but I was never comfortable with that. So, I started preparing myself at home. What I have realised is that if your base is clear and you study NCERT books well, that is enough. That is what I have done,” he adds.
