Bharat Bandh tomorrow; Cachar administration deploys magistrate, Bank Employees' Association to participate

A nationwide Bandh has been called jointly by 10 central trade unions to protest new labour policies introduced by the Government of India.

As per reports, about 25 crore workers are likely to take part in the strike and protest against new policies such as the farm and labour laws, as well as the rampant increase in privatisation of the public sector.

Leaders of the participating trade unions have declared that apart from the people catering to essential services, workers from all sectors would participate in the nationwide strike.

The All India Bank Employees’ Association (AIBEA) also announced its decision to participate in the strike. As per sources, a notice has been issued in most parts of the country by associations of government employees in the public sector, as well as the independent sectoral federations.

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), has announced that it will boycott the strike as it finds it politically motivated. BMS is considered to be aligned to the ruling government.

The Cachar administration, in view of proposed All India strike by various Trade unions on Thursday, has decided to beef up security in Silchar and other parts of the district.

The administration has deputed Executive Magistrates to look after specific areas. In an order issued to this effect on Wednesday, the administration has deputed Circle officer, Sadar, Silchar and  Executive Magistrate, Cachar, D.Pathak to look after DC’S office and court compound area, Silchar.

Kimneinem Changsen, Assistant Commissioner, Cachar & Executive Magistrate will look after Silchar police station areas (excluding Rangirkhari Town outpost, Ghungoor town outpost, Rongpur Police petrol, Malugram town outpost, Tarapur town outpost).

Circle officer (A), Silchar revenue circle  Cachar & Executive Magistrate, Ruthi Aiawzo will look after Rangirkhari Town outpost, Ghungoor Town outpost, Rongpur Police petrol, Malugram town outpost, Tarapur town outpost.

Jayanta Chakraborty, Circle Officer, Udharbond & Executive Magistrate will look after Udharbond and Borkhola police station areas.

Pranjit Kumar Deb, Circle officer, Katigorah and Executive Magistrate will look after Katigorah police station areas.

Bikash Chetri, ALRS, circle officer (A) Sonai revenue circle and executive Magistrate will look after Sonai, Kachudaram and Dholai police station areas.

“The Magistrates will take appropriate steps as they deem fit and proper to deal with law and order situation and they will report directly to the District Magistrate and also Additional District Magistrate I/c Magistracy Branch from time to time about the law and order situation in their respective areas,” the order stated.
