Silchar Guwahati passenger to resume service this December as “Express” train
Curtailing the long wait short, Northeast Frontier Railway has proposed to resume the Silchar-Guwahati Passenger train from this December, which was stopped on March 25 owing to the outbreak of a pandemic.
According to the sources, NF Railway will announce the train shortly and it will be effective from 24th December 2020.
The “Zero” numbered train (Special Train), will depart every day from Silchar at 7:20 hrs and will reach Guwahati the same day by 20:15 hrs. The reverse train will depart every day at 23:55 hrs to reach back Silchar by the next day 13:30 hrs.
However, the train will not be the same as that of pre covid era as this time it has been promoted to “Express Category”. The train will take fewer halts apart from running in speed. The train has been numbered as “05615/6 Silchar Guwahati Express Special train”.
Stoppages of the train will remain as that of the earlier one except for Arunachal, Katakhal, Salchapra, and Panchgram stations which have been withdrawn.
Meanwhile, Eastern Railways has decided to extend the service of Silchar Sealdah and Agartala Sealdah express by one more month. The order to this effect has been issued by railway authorities recently.
