Dog walks to a live-naked wire lying on the ground in Das Colony; dies on the spot

A dog walked into a live naked electric wire and died on the spot. The incident took place in Das Colony area earlier today. Right opposite the Udayan Complex lane in Das Colony, there is a transformer owned and operated by APDCL. Near that transformer, there were live naked wires lying at ground level.

The stray dog, without realising the danger ahead marched into the danger zone and got electrocuted. The dog died, and electricity got disrupted in the locality. The locals thought there is some routine work going on in the vicinity, but soon they realised that a dog got electrocuted and died.

That terrified the locals and they voiced the angst. “This could have easily been a human being. A kid could have gone there to fetch the ball. At ground level, leaving live and naked wires is highly irresponsible. We strongly condemn this,” said a senior citizen.

The technicians from APDCL rushed to the spot and started covering the live wires with torn tires of cycles. The locals criticised that move too and said this is a temporary arrangement and it exposes the lack of sincerity in the department.

Last month, a barn own got electrocuted in Silchar. Near Devdoot point, the bird was found lying by locals and wildlife enthusiast Salma Sultana rescued it and took it to the forest department. That bird, under the supervision of specialist doctors, has recovered. The next day, according to the locals another bird got electrocuted and died.

No progress has been noticed on that front. When our correspondent reached out to the APDCL spokespeople, they did not get any response.
