GC College's website hacked; "First of all your identity is Assamese" the only message displaying
What comes as a massive data breach, Guru Charan College’s website got hacked. Whenever someone is trying to log into the official website of the iconic college established in 1935 a message displays and nothing else.
It is clear that the website has been hacked. The message reads, “Hacked by Assamese 1337. We are not from any politician party… WE ARE ALL ASSAMESE”
It continues, “We all are common peoples.. . some peoples of Silchar are spreading hates between Bengali and Assamese …. Keep in Mind before bengali you are an Assamese @ DON’T FORGET IT …. You are a part of Assam.”
“First of All your Identity is known as Assamese.. Fight for your own parentage Its your Proprietor…. This is nothing that people are belonging to Barak and Brahmaputra…We are all like Brothers and Sisters,” the message concludes with a warning that they will be back. “We will be back, stay safe and healthy.”
GC College administration is aware of the data breach, Principal Bibhash Deb said, “We are looking into the matter.”
SP BL Meena said that the police will investigate the matter once they receive an official complaint from the college authority.
Rajiv Verma a software engineer with over 15 years of experience who is also a tech entrepreneur analysed. “As the website itself is not redirecting from the actual URL of the GC College website, this means that the actual root location of the server where the website files reside have been compromised. Such compromises primarily happen if, the website files have not been secured properly after deployment.”
The website has been restored at around 4:45 pm.
