Dacoit attack in Kalain: "2 arrested so far," SP
Ex-Army Aji Uddin of Kalain and his family members were robbed last night by a group of 20 dacoits. The robbery left several injured as the dacoits used indigenously made guns to open fire on their way out of escape.
The police made two arrests so far in connection with this robbery. Cachar Superintendent of Police, B. L. Meena said, “We arrested two suspects in connection with the robbery. After initial interrogation, we are now expecting further arrests. As of now, the investigation is still on.”
According to the locals, they were first made aware of the robbery when their dog started barking after the dacoits had infiltrated Aji Uddin’s house. Hearing the dog barking incessantly, the neighbouring residents came out in panic. This in turn, made the dacoits wary of the approaching neighbours and they tried to flee.
According to the police sources, the dacoits were in possession of indigenously made katta guns and some cleaver knives (Da). During those intense moments, the dacoits also attacked their dog with a cleaver which left the pet critically injured.
