Head on collision of truck with bike at Lala: one dead, hospital vandalised

The death of a student in a tragic road accident led to a violent turn of affairs in Lala. The locals alleged that the Mritunjay Ambulance Service did not respond to their call as a consequence of which the angry mob vandalised the Lala Primary Health Service Center. The incident took place on Saturday night at Lala’s Umednagar PWD road around 9:30 pm. The head on collision of the truck with the bike resulted in death of Sanjiv Singh (19 years), a resident of Nityanandapur. Seriously injured were the other two riders Rohit Sharma (19 years) and Thaon Singh, both of whom hail from Madhavpur. Going to the depth of the incident it came to light that the three friends were going towards Lala when suddenly a truck hit the bike with great thrust as a result of which the three of them got injured. Locals immediately rushed to the spot and rescued the three.They called the 108 Mritunjay Service but needless to say it delayed its arrival and the locals themselves took the injured to Lala Primary Health Centre. The doctor after examining Sanjiv Singh declared him dead.This flame led to inferno as the locals were already upset with the delay of ambulance service.They alleged that Sanjiv died due to delay of the ambulance.The mob created a ruckus and went on vandalising the infrastructure of the heath centre. Car, lab room, doors and windows were brutally damaged. The on duty doctors and nurses fled from the spot to escape the fury of the mob. This extreme exasperation went on for around 20 minutes. The situation came under control when OC of Lala Police Station arrived at the spot. The police took the truck and the bike to police station and is investigating the matter. The truck driver escaped after hitting the bike.The other two injured have been referred to Hailakandi Civil Hospital.
