“Syndicate-BJP is ruling Assam, cleaned me up to have a free run in Silchar,” Dilip Paul announces he’ll contest independently
“With a heavy heart, today afternoon I have resigned as the primary member of the party,” announced two-time MLA from Silchar, Dilip Paul.
He added that inspired by, Atal Bihari Vajpayee he had joined the party and he will continue to follow the ideals of Vajpayee and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay.
He said that he has tendered his resignation to the Cachar president, state president and national president.
“Today, BJP has all the outsiders at the helm of affairs. The ones who are teaching us the principles of BJP have all come from outside,” asserted Paul.
He took a jibe at Himanta Biswa Sarma and said, “Yesterday he said that due to some reason Dilip Paul has not been given the ticket. I challenge him to come out in public and announce why I was snubbed,” added Paul.
He went on to add that, “Have I not been trusted with the ticket as I do not run syndicates. Or is it because I stood against handing over Gandhibag to a private party? Or is it because I am not involved in a gas scam racket?”
This gas-scam is a subtle jibe at the current BJP candidate Dipayan Chakraborty who according to news reports is involved in one and the matter is under investigation. “Or is it because I am not a doctor who slides a knife through the throat of patients,” said Paul while taking a jibe at Rajdeep Roy.
Like Kabindra Purkayastha he too blames Silchar MP Rajdeep Roy for him being snubbed. “According to sources in the party, MP Rajdeep Roy said he will resign if his favourite candidate is fielded from Silchar legislative assembly,” he added.
Paul said it is not because he has not been given the ticket he has resigned from the party. “The way I have been insulted is humiliating. It has been said that my popularity is headed South. Now I will contest the election and see if I am popular or not. I will contest the election and see If my voters approve me or not,” he announced.
Paul went on to say that BJP in Assam has turned to a Syndicate-BJP. “I am excluding chief minister from this group. But the rest are all involved. Syndicate was earlier run by Kaushik Rai but now it is being operated from a chamber in Bilpar. In Katigorah they have brought Gautam Roy to mastermind the syndicate and now they have removed me to have a free run. Parimal Suklabaidya is there in the party but he is there with his head bowed down and not held-high. They have sidelined Kabindra Purkayastha too,” he added.
“I always think positive. My decision to contest election independently is not with motive of reducing someone’s vote-share. I am contesting to win,” he replied when asked if a dejected Dilip Paul is contesting to ensure Dipayan Chakraborty’s defeat.
