Indigo's Silchar-Bengaluru flight service lost in cloud of uncertainty; "Waiting for summer schedule," Airlines

Indigo’s Silchar – Bengaluru direct flight was rolled out on March 2, 2021. The thrice a week flight connected the two cities without any stops. This brought a lot of hope for regular commuters, small and medium businesses and patients. Many from this region fly to Bengaluru for treatment. The hospitals here also planned to fly in doctors for short stays.

However, there are no tickets available post-March 28. Why? Is Indigo discontinuing the flight? The future of Silchar – Bengaluru direct flight has got lost in the cloud of uncertainty.

Our correspondent reached out to the officers in Indigo and they said that the Silchar – Bengaluru flight was planned till March 28. “Whenever a flight is rolled out, it comes with a plan. This flight was planned until March 28. We are still serving as per the winter calendar. Once the airlines declare the Summer calendar, we will get to know, if the service is extended further,” said the officer.

Adding, “It might get extended and there is a possibility that it might not. The airlines will decide after evaluating all pros and cons.”

According to experts in the aviation industry, the load factor of the flight is “excellent”. On the first day itself, the flight arrived with155 pax on 180 capacity. Then flight 6E6118 departed for Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru with 144 passengers.

However, will Indigo continue the nonstop service in this route, remains to be seen.
