Cachar reports a COVID death for the first time since January; "Stay alert for second wave," Dr. Babul Bezbaruah
Disastrous news coming in from the Silchar Medical College and Hospital. A 50-year-old resident who had tested positive for COVID19 has succumbed.
All over India, there is an alarming rise in the number of COVID positive cases. Today, so far, according to the data available, 43,846 individuals have tested positive for the disease that forced the World Health Organisation to declare a global pandemic a year ago.
The principal of Silchar Medical College and Hospital, Dr. Babul Bezbaruah informed that Manohar Gorh, a Male resident from Dayapur, Cachar was admitted on March 17, 2021 with cough and bloody expectoration. The patient had tested positive for COVID after a rapid antigen test was conducted on admission.”
According to the medical bulletin, all medications as per state protocol was initiated. The patient was diagnosed to be suffering from pulmonary tuberculosis. Dr. Bezbaruah confirmed that he expired today (March 21, 2021).
This is the first death in Cachar after Ashutosh Dey who had breathed his last on January 3, 2021.
Dr. Bezbaruah warned, “It is high time to be alert for a second wave.” Two other symptomatic patients have been admitted to the hospital after testing positive for COVID 19. “Cordial request to the public to maintain COVID protocol,” added Bezbaruah.
The general election to the Assembly is knocking at the door. The candidates are campaigning in full strength and there are huge gatherings at every nook and corner of the state. The Principal and chief superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Bezbaruh said that the authority is preparing for a “heavy post-election load.”
