Retired BSNL employee from Hailakandi found dead in Paharganj, New Delhi

In a shocking turn of affairs, Hailakandi resident, Krishnendu Purkayastha who had gone to Delhi has been found dead. He had gone missing from March 17, and that’s when the family in Hailakandi managed to last speak with Purkayastha. Family sources informed that he had stopped in Delhi on his way to Vrindaban where he was going for pilgrimage.

He was accompanied by a man named Manna who has traveled with him before to other parts of the country. A family member, while speaking with Barak Bulletin said that Krishnendu Purkayastha informed them after he has reached Delhi. In fact, next morning, he called home and asked if his son had gone for the scheduled examination.

But after that, they could not establish contact with Krishnendu Purkayastha who according to the family members has voluntarily retired from service at Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). “After we could not reach out to Krishendu, we started calling Manna and he said that even he is unable to trace him. Later he started saying that he has gone to Vrindavan to look for him. But we had a hunch that he is not speaking the truth and that is when we went to the Hailakandi Police Station and filed an FIR,” informed a family member.

“We got to know that Manna has returned to Silchar, however, he is not picking our phone calls and his family members are lying and saying that he has not arrived,” informed another family of Purkayastha.

Meanwhile, on March 20, 2021, a relative of Krishnendu who lives in Delhi was informed about the same, and he reached out to the local Police in Delhi. On March 21, just to be sure, he started checking the Delhi Police’s Zipnet website where details about all the missing cases and unidentified dead bodies are listed. To their dismay, they found the image of Krishnendu Purkayastha on that website.

According to the Police records, his dead body was found near Hotel Siva, in Arkashan Road Delhi on March 19, 2021. The area is under Nabi Karim Police Station. When reached out, the officer-in-charge told Barak Bulletin that his body was found abandoned on the road. “Prima facie, this seems like a death related to addiction. The post mortem has been done and we will get to know more once we get the report,” said the officer.

The family members have rushed to Delhi from Hailakandi to meet the police officials and collect the dead body for last rites.
