Home Minister Amit Shah to Visit Barak Valley; Huge Public Event Awaiting in Silchar

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and BJP’s poster boy for Hindutva ideology, Yogi Adityanath held meetings in three areas of the Cachar district yesterday to promote the election campaign on behalf of the valley’s BJP candidates. However, the overall turnout and enthusiasm didn’t meet the expectations. This time Home Minister Amit Shah is coming to hold a meeting on the same ground. According to the district BJP, the Home Minister has the first meeting at Patharkandi in Karimganj district on Friday, March 26, and the second meeting at India Club ground in Silchar.

On behalf of the district BJP, Bimalendu Roy said that the Home Minister would reach Kumbhirgram Airport on a special flight at noon and leave for Patharkandi by helicopter. After the meeting there, he will come to Silchar and address the people at the India Club ground. He said, “Our goal is for Amit Shah’s meeting to have at least 20,000 spectators. If he comes in the run-up to the elections, there will be a lot of enthusiasm among the party’s supporters. He is also expected to speak on various important issues.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already visited the Barak Valley, but neither the CAA nor the NRC issue was discussed at his public event. All the BJP leaders are campaigning in the elections targeting the Congress and AIUDF parties. However, Amit Shah is known to make various statements regarding the citizenship issue. On one hand, there is a possibility of getting to listen to something about the citizenship issue during his arrival, on the other hand, there is also a possibility of taking special plans on behalf of the party to increase the number of visitors at his event.

The battle in Silchar is between BJP candidate Dipayan Chakraborty versus former BJP MLA and independent running candidate Dilip Kumar Paul and popular Congress face Tamal Kanti Banik.
