Silchar boy RajDeep Choudhury starrer 'Jackpot' releases on Disney+ Hotstar

Silchar based actor RajDeep Choudhury is slowly but surely making a name for himself in the echelons of the film industry. Debuting with Bollywood film ‘Jack and Dil’ back in 2018, where he starred with the likes of Arbaaz Khan, then getting to work with Bipasha Basu and Karan Singh Grover in the thriller series ‘Dangerous’, RajDeep Choudhury has now starred in an English language film called ‘Jackpot’ in a leading role. Released in Disney+ Hotstar, the 11-minute high octane short drama is about an illegal vaccine deal where two London detectives stake out the criminal transaction. The thriller is directed by Gurjant Singh.

RajDeep Choudhury has been living in London for the past few years. Talking about ‘Jackpot’, RajDeep told Barak Bulletin that he got the offer for this film when the entire UK was under total lockdown. “Though the shooting was completed in 3 days in the month of December, we still had to face a lot of obstacles getting the permission to shoot in London. And even after we got through this, there were several other problems as well, as we had to strictly maintain social distancing while shooting. Even make-up artists weren’t allowed to come near the actors so the actors were shot without any make-up in this film”, said the actor who was born and brought up in Silchar, Cachar district.

‘Jackpot’ is produced by London UK Films in association with Kala Chashma. The screenplay and dialogues of the film were also co-written by RajDeep Choudhury, who learnt the art of acting in London. He has also just completed shooting for another lead role in a film to be called ‘Screem’, recently shot in London with Rohit Bose Roy and veteran actor Rajesh Sharma. While shooting the film, actor Rohit Bose Roy heaped praises on the young actor by remarking “A talent to watch out for” in a social media post. Last year, RajDeep was also featured in a music video titled ‘Udja Udja Re’ released by Zee Music Company label which received a lot of attention globally.

His latest film ‘Jackpot’ is available for streaming on Disney+ Hotstar platform. It stars RajDeep Choudhury, Malcolm Davies, Eric Ollerenshaw, Amelia Pin and Faz Aoufi. The film has generated good reviews with RajDeep’s performance grabbing special attention donning the lead role. It indeed is a proud moment as a son of Barak Valley is making some heads turn in the Indian film industry and beyond.
