Attack on Masjid is a malicious rumour: MLA Aminul Haque says after his visit

Since last night a message is doing rounds on WhatsApp and other social media platforms, the message mentions about an attack on Boro Masjid in Madhurband area and Karkhana Masjid in Shutkipatti area. The provocative message has caught a lot of attention and had the potential to lead to a mass outrage, realising that Sonai MLA Aminul Haque Laskar and former Katigorah MLA Ataur Rahman along with other locals decided to visit all Mosques in the locality.

After checking every nook and corner of the mosques in Madhurband area Laskar addressed media and said everything in the mosques are absolutely fine and there is no sign of any attack or damage in any religious monuments. Through media he appealed to the people of Barak Valley, not to react to such malicious rumours and maintain peace.

He has also informed that today evening there will be a meeting between leaders of various organisations and associations in Madhurband and the agenda is to discuss a possible way of restoring peace and harmony.

Thursday night violence erupted between two communities again in Kalibari Char and its adjoining areas. Police had to fire two rounds of rubber bullets to bring situation under control. A police official and many locals got injured in stone pelting between two particular communities.
