BJP leader from Karimganj district Sipra Goon recently met Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj, in Delhi. Goon requested the MEA to intervene and get Mousumi Das back to India.
We spoke to the BJP leader, who confirmed us about her meeting with Swaraj. She said, “We believe that Mousumi Das has been kidnapped and forcefully converted to Islam.”

After being missing for days, a video statement from Mousumi Das had surfaced, wherein the 21-year-old shared on camera that she willingly fled to Bangladesh, and is now happily married. Goon rejected the video and said that it’s possible that Mousumi was forced to say the stuff recorded in the video. “The video was shot there, sitting in one of Bangladesh’s offices, we won’t consider that video content as an official statement. So we want her to come to India and register her statement,” Goon added.

Mousumi married Numan Badshah, whom she met at a fair in Karimganj, where he had set up a stall to sell Jamdani Saree. “They met in February and in March, she eloped with him, how can someone fall in love so deep in such a short period,” Goon questioned.
The BJP leader has also alleged that her fellow party worker Ekbal Hussain too played a part in this entire incident. “How is it that he went to Bangladesh and found them in one go… there must be a pretext, which is why Hussain had so much idea about Mousumi and Numan’s whereabouts,” she said, adding, “This is why we doubt that he too played a role.”
Goon told us that Sushma Swaraj assured her that MEA will do its best to get the Karimganj girl back.
