Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma applauds Silchar's Bikramjit Baulia for his 'music therapy' to Corona patients

The second wave of the deadly Coronavirus has made human interaction to its minimum. Amid such a tense situation, singer Bikramjit ‘Baulia’ Kar is trying to make the lives of Covid affected people under home isolation a bit better by singing for them over call. And this deed has spread across the entire country. Personalities like Bollywood’s famous music director Shekhar Ravjiani are applauding him, doing interviews with him. Now, the Chief Minister of Assam Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has written a letter congratulating him by calling his work ‘music therapy’. And for this acknowledgement, Bikramjit Baulia is elated and even wished the Chief Minister a long life and sought his blessings.

A letter was posted from the Chief Minister’s Office a few days ago, which reached Bikramjit on Thursday. As soon as it arrived, he expressed his reaction regarding this. The Chief Minister said in a letter on his official pad, “It is understandable that a person afflicted with COVID, has to isolate himself or herself as a part of treatment protocols. This isolation from the near and dear ones leads to momentary distress. However, rendition of your voice and singing songs for the COVID patients over the phone is no less than musical therapy for the COVID patients. Your songs are helping the patients to overcome the agony and distress that COVID might inflict on them. This initiative is indeed very much critical in empowering our fight against COVID 19. I am positive that our society will continue to benefit from your humane approach. I once again thank you for your great role.”

Expressing his feelings regarding the acknowledgement, Bikramjit Baulia said, “Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is an apt leader and a role model for us. My work has reached his ears and he is thanking me for it. It is one of the best moments of my life. I thank him and pray for the longevity of his life. I respect and bow to him. ”

Earlier, Minister Parimal Suklabaidya posted on his Twitter congratulating Bikramjit Baulia. Several news outlets across the country have written about his ‘music therapy’. Music lovers and musicians from different parts of the country have greeted Bikramjit over the phone or on social media. Also, corona patients are still calling him and he does not forget to sing for them even in the middle of his work. A lot of the time he gets busy chatting with his friends, but whenever his phone rings, he quietly gets up and leaves for his own room to sing for the corona patients. And this act has become a part of his life now.
