5 dead in SMCH; Cachar's positivity rate stays over 4%, 31 positive in Hailakandi, Karimganj 66
Vice Principal of the Silchar Medical College & Hospital (SMCH) Dr. Bhaskar Gupta said in a medical bulletin that, as of 16 June, 5 pm, there are 184 active Corona cases in the Silchar Medical College & Hospital. 90 patients are in the ICU, 58 are in the Covid ward. 20 patients are in ventilation support and 109 are in oxygen support.
In the past 24 hours, 23 Covid patients have been admitted to the Silchar Medical College & Hospital and 30 have been discharged. 18 Covid patients have been given home isolation. In the same period, 5 patients have died in the SMC Hospital with Corona infection.
Bidya Rani Singha, aged 56, a resident of the Kabuganj area of the Cachar district, was admitted to the Silchar Medical College & Hospital on June 5 and died at 11:30 pm on June 15. Amulya Suklabaidya, aged 77, of the Laxminagar 2nd block area of the Hailakandi district, was admitted to the SMC Hospital on June 4. He died on June 15 at 11:30 pm with Corona infection.
Parash Kanu, aged 55, a resident of the Bidyanagar area of the Karimganj district, was admitted to the SMC Hospital on June 13 and died on June 16 at 2:20 am. Ganesh Chandra Das, aged 90, a resident of the Banglaghat area adjacent to Silchar town of the Cachar district, was admitted to the Silchar Medical College & Hospital on June 12 and died at 5:30 am on June 16. DB Gurung, aged 60, of the Kumbhirgram area of the Cachar district, was admitted to the Silchar Medical College & Hospital on June 11. He died on June 16 at 9:10 am with a Corona infection.
On June 16, till 6 pm, the Cachar district has reported 200 new Covid cases. 191 through RAT and 9 through RT-PCR test. 4,765 samples were tested using the Rapid Antigen Test kit and Cachar’s positivity rate on RAT stands at 4.01% almost double of Assam. Health Minister of Assam, Keshab Mahanta informed 3,386 samples have tested positive in the state and the overall Positivity Percentage (3386 cases out of 1,30,053 test done = 2.60%) stands at 2.60%.
In the Karimganj district, the total number of active cases stands at 1051. On June 16, 66 people have tested Covid positive out of the 3,705 samples collected reporting 1.78% positivity rate.
In Hailakandi district, 31 individuals have tested positive for COVID 19 taking the number of active cases to 673. 1,713 samples were tested on June 16, which means Hailakandi’s positivity rate today stands at 1.80%
