MLA Siddeque Ahmed released from the hospital today; "He has tested -ve for COVID" medical bulletin

South Karimganj MLA and former Minister of Assam Siddeque Ahmed was rushed to the Green Heals Hospital in Silchar on June 9 with chief complaints of fever, cough, body ache, and generalized weakness. After clinical assessment and CT Scan Thorax, he was found to be suffering from typical pneumonia.

While the treatment started in the general ward, the following day he had also tested Covid positive on RT-PCR test after which he was shifted to the Covid ward for specialised treatment. Today, the medical bulletin of the Green Heals Hospital has stated that Siddeque Ahmed has tested negative today on June 17, and has been discharged as per state discharge protocol.

The bulletin also mentioned that during the MLA’s treatment, all necessary remedial medical care including his glycemic control, cardiac ailments besides treatment for COVID was given. The Congress MLA Siddeque Ahmed is a known diabetic with HTN and had been suffering from hypertension for quite some time.

When he was admitted to the Green Heals hospital in Silchar, he had breathing difficulties and had been suffering from chest congestion. Although initially, he had tested Covid negative on the RAT kit, eventually he tested positive the following day on RT-PCR test, after which he was shifted to the Covid ward.

Siddeque Ahmed later tweeted after getting admitted to the hospital that “he’s doing little better but will be under observation for the next few days”. Siddeque Ahmed was first elected as a member of the legislative assembly in 2001 and the Congressman served in the cabinet of former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.
