221 voluntarily donated blood in Ayachak Ashram's blood donation camp
Ayachak Ashram in Radhamadhab road Silchar was one of the most encouraging sites yesterday. 221 people of Barak Valley volunteered in the noble act of blood donation. Out of 221, 23 were women which is also a great sign.
Since last seven years Ayachak Ashram has made itself available for a blood donation camp, it has emerged as an annual event growing thick and fast. This year too was no different, South Assam Akhanda Sanghatan and Barak Valley Blood Donor’s Forum jointly organised blood donation camp has witnessed a great participation. People stood in line patiently waiting for their turn. They then got themselves tested and after passing all the pre-donation tests, donated an unit of blood each. An eyewitness shared with us that the ones who couldn’t pass the pre-test had actually left the Ashram with glossy eyes. Members of Silchar Medical College Blood Bank had also stretched their helping hands.
South Assam Akhanda Sanghatan’s Nabendu Nath said, “This Social Work is a way for us to remember Swami Swarupanda’s contribution to the society. This is why we do it in April every year.” April is the month when Swami Swarupananda’s disciples all over the world celebrate his death anniversary.
Barak Valley Blood Donor’s Forum’s founder, Mohitosh Paul believes this camp in Ayachak Ashram is an example of a well organised camp for entire Northeast to follow. He emphasised on the importance of blood donation, he said, “Voluntary Blood donation is necessary for building a healthy society.” He also mentioned that there are not many organisation or association which year after year organise a camp how Ayachak Ashram does.
Even today, people have a lot of insecurity when it comes to blood donation and not all dare to volunteer. Such large gathering will certainly encourage people to donate blood and that will help rise the total number of donors.
We say well done to all 221 donors we urge others to donate too…
