Headlines, dining table discussions, lunch hour debates, Assam government’s cabinet expansion has been a part of all these and many more since a very long time. Barak Valley was more hopeful than ever and speculations were rife, well, the flying bubble has busted and guess we all know by now that Barak Valley has got nothing.

The whole of Barak is very upset at the negligence and many vented it out on Social Media, out of which a rumour started spreading thick and fast, and that’s about the only minority BJP MLA of Assam, Aminul Haque Laskar. Facebook posts from people and pages started claiming that Aminul has lost his cool and contemplating a resignation from BJP. Few said because he was minority he got ignored, the Sonai MLA started trending (of sorts) in the Assam social media circle. But the post that caught the maximum number of eyeballs is the one that claimed that “Aminul out of anger resigned from state Hajj committee.”

One part of the post is correct but the other half is not, “pure fiction” is how the MLA defines it. Barakbulletin.com reached out to the MLA himself to find out the reason behind his resignation. He said, “Yes, it is true that I have resigned from the state Hajj committee, but it has nothing to do with cabinet expansion or me not becoming a minister.” If it does not settle the dust then we have more… the MLA said, “I was in BJP, I am in BJP and I will be in BJP, these are all rumours and people must not pay any attention to them.”

Social media has no entry barrier and anybody can post anything, but from this episode one thing is clear. You must not believe everything that you see on Social media platforms, many of it are created to cause a controversy in order to fetch more attention in terms of likes and shares, while some propagate vendetta.
